Nieces and Nephews

It's hard to imagine my life without my 5 little babies running wild. What did we ever do for entertainment before they were born?!  6 years ago I was so excited to be an auntie for the first time and them BAM! 3 nephews and 2 nieces later I am like, "Where the hell has the time gone?!"

They have brought me more joy and love than I could've ever imagined possible. It has been an extreme challenge living in a place where I can't just run and kiss their cute faces or get a quick laugh if I'm having a rough day. They're my happy medicine. And I miss them.

My dad... aka the greatest Grandpa in the world... always has "Grandpa weekends" where they all get to sleepover, eat as many treats as their hearts desire, watch movies and RUN WILD at his house, and lucky for me if he can get them all to stay in one place for 2 minutes he always has them call me. I LOVE this! I have a few voice mails saved that I will never delete, because on a day like today I can just pick up my phone and get an instant pick me up.

If you can imagine them all screaming and talking over each other...it truly is the cutest thing ever! Oh and it's a rare and sweet treat if Miss Hadley is willing to talk on the phone... that is challenge! Unless of course if it's "her Ausin", then she's more than willing.

I love these babes. They're my world. I am so grateful for them and to be their 'second mom' :)

We're crazy sleepers...

Ready for a little laugh?

Aust and I are completely different sleepers. He likes to go to bed early and could honestly sleep anywhere at anytime, almost instantly. This makes me craaazy because I am a night owl and it is probably the most difficult task of my day to fall asleep and stay asleep.

So, just like every other night, I lay here next to this sleeping beauty wide awake geeking out on Netflix, Facebook, Pinterest and Blogger (of course, gotta get in that daily stalking)...and I got thinking about our sleeping. On those rare occasions where we're both sleeping soundly, we've done some pretty silly things.

• In the middle of the night I get woke up by Austin frantically swatting my arm. I'm like, "babe what are you doing?!" he's like.... "THERE'S A HUGE SPIDER IN THE BED!" and his eyes were so wide I could see them in the dark. So I jump up freaking out and as I flip the light on there's Austin sitting on the edge of the bed smiling... "Sorry it was a dream." rolls right over and falls back asleep. WHAT?! Who does this?! Apparently when he was in college he really did wake up to a huge spider on his chest. yuck. And to make this even better this exact situation happened again about a week later and as I jumped out of my bed I was like, "if there's not spider in my damn bed I'm going to kill you". Ya, there was no spider.
• I was dreaming the most awful dream about being trapped under a GIANT boulder. Like the worst anxiety I've ever experienced and I was yelling for Austin to get if off of me but he couldn't. In my dream I was holding my flip flops in my hand for some odd reason, and the next thing I know Austin is searching for me with the light from his phone and finds me on the floor next to the bed partly tucked under it in a ball holding his flip flops? lol I was shaking and crying, it was so horrible
• You know those nights when you know you have to wake up early, so you're trying to force yourself to sleep but you can't...but then you look at the clock and it says 3am and you don't know if you've been sleeping or awake that whole time? Ya, well I was having one of those nights and I'm finally about to fall into real sleep and as I move Austin's arm from the top of my head he slams his hand straight on my face, open palmed and just squeezes as hard as he can. Like literally palming my face like a basketball. I start freaking out trying to get his arm off and I couldn't, I was so helpless, so I started to panic! He finally wakes up and feels so bad that he keeps saying, "I'm so sorry are you ok?!" It got me so wound up I was crying. Needless to say I didn't get much sleep that night!
• Sometimes while I lay here browsing the web, Aust will wake from a dead sleep and stare or point to some random place in our room. Often times it'll be the closet and I'll be thinking, "Oh shit, have I been laying here not knowing someone's been hiding in my closet THIS WHOLE TIME?!"

Haha we're weird. I love these kinds of memories that instantly make me giggle inside.

Holiday Highlights

I would LOVE to go into detail on every single thing that happened over the holidays, but that would be a LONG and boring post... so I'll just fill you in on the best parts...

We spent nine lovely days at home!! 

Chance talked us into driving up Friday night after work to go to Bryce and Amanda's Christmas party.... SO glad we did! It was a blast to see all our friends. All the girls were running around in long john jammies all night :)

Wedding dress shopping with my mom and Austin's mom, Lisa. EEEEEK 5 months away... it's coming quick!! 

Ryder was being the sweetest, most cuddly boy ever! He's never like that, so I took full advantage. He would just come hug me and say... "I wuv you Hannah". Melt my heart! There were many many snuggles, hugs, kisses, tickle wars and silly baby talk with all 5 of my nieces and nephews. (that is definitely one plus to living away. When I see them now they're all excited rather than like "eww stop kissing me!")

Spending NY eve with my babe back at home. We had the most amazing fondue dinner, laughed a lot and barely made it to midnight. 

And to finish off the festivities... we got a surprise visit from Chance and Bryce. Sometimes you just need to getaway. I'm thankful that we are that for Chance. 

Christmas time is so magical with little kids around. I am so blessed to have the family and friends that I do. 2012  was a great year for Austin and  I and am looking forward to an even better 2013!
