Our Wedding: The Reception

Planning a wedding is a lot of work. Like I mentioned in the last post, the days leading up to our reception had our entire family consumed in wedding stuff. We're very blessed to have families who are so willing to give and help with whatever needs to be done.
On Saturday morning we got to the Christensen's house around 8 to start setting up. Things were going really smooth, but I think we underestimated how time consuming each project would be. It got super hot during the day, so we were all out there sweating our bums off. While the girls were decorating the boys were running errands and picking up last minute things.
My mother in law went all out. She thought of every last detail and had everything in the perfect spot. We were decorating until the very last second I could make it home in time to shower and get ready.
I had Taylor come do my hair and makeup and then we headed back up to the in-laws. Well, right when we got there the wind picked up pretty bad and table cloths were flying around. I didn't care at that point. I was there, ready and the backyard looked beautiful so if it was going to rain then so be it. As I was getting dressed the mom's were putting out the flowers making sure all the cups and plates were out and ready to go.
My photographer got there an hour early to get our family pictures done, and I.am.in.love. with them. If you haven't seen them, check them out here

The weather finally calmed down and as we were finishing up mine and Austin's pictures the mom's were busy running around getting the food and drinks out and before we knew it our reception was in full swing. The shaved ice and lemonade bar were a huge hit since it was so hot out!
The food was delicious. We served sandwiches and turkey rollers, 2 different salads made by my momma and watermelon.
Our good friends Bryce and Tim played guitar and sang for our first dance. Austin surprised me and had them learn "Tangled Up in You" by Aaron Lewis for our first dance. We love this song. I got so emotional dancing with my husband for the first time listening to the lyrics of this song because it's all so true.
We had our nieces and nephews join in our daddy daughter, and mother son dance. It was so cute how excited they were to dance with us. I'll definitely never forget that. And afterward Ryder came to find me, hung on my leg and with his big blue eyes looking at me said, "I wuved our dance Hannah!" Oh, melt my heart. It was the sweetest thing ever.
Our cake was still a little frozen in the middle, which made cutting with a plastic knife a little difficult lol. Of course, it got shoved in each others faces...but I got him better...up the nose ;)
We were sent off with bubbles and headed to the Marriott in Provo.
My mom packed up some champagne and our wedding cards, so we enjoyed a glass and relaxed and read our cards. I'm pretty sure even though we were completely exhausted we were on cloud nine. I was so happy the way our reception turned out, it was so beautiful and we had all of our closest family and friends there. We really are so blessed.
Bryce and Tim were playing a show at the Madison in Provo that night, so we invited our friends to join us for a little after party. It turned out to be such a fun night! I was surprised by how many of our friends were able to come and dance and party with us. It was the perfect way to end our night...
followed by a late night run to Del Taco and then ya know... wedding night stuff ;)

A huge thank you to everyone who helped us plan and get ready for our big day and to all the love and support we've received. Our wedding couldn't have been any more perfect for us!

Our Wedding: The Ceremony

Since we decided to get married at the courthouse, we had to do it a day before the reception. I was so grateful for this. It made both days way less stressful and we actually got to enjoy each part.
We got home from Wendover around 9 am and I had to start getting ready right then in order to get there on time. My dad had planned a luncheon for both our families after the ceremony and planned to pick up the tables and chairs that morning and totally forgot. Um, I'd say this was my only bridezilla moment. I was so stressed and frustrated, but there was physically nothing I could do about it. Thankfully Chance saved the day and got them for us and barely made it on time to the courthouse.
I curled my hair and then headed to Taylor's house for her to do my makeup. Let me tell you... I own mascara, eyeliner and an eyebrow pencil. I don't know how to do makeup, nor have any. She is pro at this. I loved my makeup!
We got to the Provo courthouse and both our families were there and I suddenly got sooo nervous. I didn't expect to at all! I think I had just been so busy leading up to that point that it finally hit me that we were there, getting married and I was beyond excited and happy but the nerves were definitely kicking in!
I didn't know what to expect out of a courthouse wedding. I had never been to one, so I was worried it would be a 5 minute in and out thing... I mean, we brought about 25 people there with us so I was hoping it would be worth their while.
It totally was. I was not expecting it to be so personal. We had Judge Hansen, and as we stood up there in front of our families he took the time to ask us questions about who we were and why we wanted to marry each other. He was so genuine in everything he said.
I got so emotional as he was talking to us. Just staring at Austin knowing he was about to be my husband for the rest of our lives, I couldn't help but feel so lucky to have him. At that moment there wasn't a single doubt in my mind about why I was standing there with him and what we've created to get to that point. Our relationship wasn't always a smooth path and we'd been through a lot together to prove to each other this is exactly what we wanted. And not to mention... I was about to exchange rings with the most handsome man in the world!
I was pleasantly surprised by the way it turned out, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
Both families met back at my dad's for a luncheon afterward. He made ham, potato salad, a veggie tray, a fruit tray, drinks, treats, chips, dip...the whole shebang. It was so yummy and I loved having everyone together to relax before the reception and just be able to chat and get to know each other.
After the luncheon was more last minute running around.
I think it was about 2 am before we got to sleep and I had the biggest smile on my face when I said, "good night husband of mine". Best feeling in the world
