Our Wedding: The Preparation

Having a long(ish) engagements has its ups and its downs. I loved having plenty of time to really think about how I wanted my wedding to look, where to have it and all that jazz. The down side of waiting 9 months was I kept feeling like I had all the time in the world to start making decorations and then before I knew it, it was 3 weeks til our wedding! I blame that partly on being completely distracted by this tiny human growing in my belly.
I honestly don't know how anyone has ever planned a wedding without Pinterest. Wow. It's so convenient to make a wedding board and pin everything you love and have it all in one place, and also know how to make it all. That was a huge life saver for me.
I wanted my wedding to be completely stress free, and simple yet beautiful.
Since our engagement last September we went from:
Getting married in Lake Tahoe with just our family
to...
Getting married in St George and having a reception in a park
to...
Just going to Vegas and whoever can come is invited
to...
Getting married in the courthouse and having a small reception at Austin's parent's house.

I'm so glad we chose to do it here.
I was hopeful that we'd be moved back up north before the wedding, but as the time passed I realized that wasn't going to happen. Austin was up here working and I was stuck in St George...and in hindsight that was actually a really good thing because I occupied my time with wedding stuff which would have been further put off had he been home. So...my house was covered in glitter and tissue paper and wood and paint and everything else you can think of needing to decorate for a wedding.
My sweet in-laws were so busy up here making their yard perfect...and I mean perfect.
I came up on Tuesday morning and met with my mom and my mom-in-law, Lisa, to go over final plans and who was getting what.
It seemed like we would have some to do but nothing overwhelming, and let me tell you I was wrong. I literally was doing wedding stuff from 8 am to midnight or later every night until the wedding. I feel like I was handling the stress pretty well, but Austin on the other hand... got nicknamed groomzilla. And while we were busy doing all our last minute stuff, my mom and my second mom Sherri were making my wedding cake, her daughter was making our sign in box, and Lisa and Rick were still getting their yard ready.
Luckily, we did get a little time to relax throughout the week. Our good friend Amanda did my nails and toes and also gave Austin a good manicure. She's amazing at what she does and I LOVED my nails, they were more than I ever could have thought of. And her husband Bryce was sweet enough to play the guitar and sing at our wedding, so one night we got to hang out at their house and get a preview of the songs.
Chance had planned a bachelor/bachelorette party for us in Wendover on Thursday night.
Thursday was a busy day to begin with. We planned to leave at 6 and of course that didn't happen. Our reception was the day at 1 so I didn't want to get out there too late and be tired the next day.
Right as we were leaving around 8 Lisa called to tell us her yard was flooding...great. Our friend Brett was with us and sent his friend over to fix it and we were off to Wendover. Thank goodness for good friends, right?
We didn't get there til about 10 and with 2 preggies we weren't the wildest bunch but we still had such a blast. It was so nice to just be out with our friends and have a good time before our big day.
