Life with baby Zee weeks 1-4

**Warning: Picture overload**
I realize that I have totally been sucking with this blogging. I thought, "I'll have so much time while I'm off work, I can get so much done!". Ya right. Even taking a shower is a race against time some days! But nonetheless, being a mom has been the most amazing experience of my life.

How has 9 weeks passed already?!

I wish I would've made time to blog last month, but time keeps slipping by. So this might be a long post...

We were in heaven when we finally got to bring Zeeland home. Austin was off work for another 5 days after we got home so we got lots of snuggling time in.

On Friday Oct 25 we got his newborn pictures done by my friend Chynna (I'll post those next) and he also had a doctors appointment to check his biliruben and weight. He was good to go!

Austin went back to work on Monday the 28th. When he said goodbye to us that morning I didn't expect to be as emotional as I was. I was crying because I was scared to be doing this alone, but more so for the fact that he would be gone Monday-Friday every week and miss so much of Zeeland's first few months. Thank goodness we have facetime...I think that's what saves us.

Halloween! Zeeland wasn't supposed to be born until AFTER Halloween, so he didn't have a costume. My mother-in-law gave us Gage's first Halloween jammies from 21 years ago. We loved them and they fit perfectly.
First Holiday:

He loves his baths! In the NICU they do a swaddle bath...and he loved it so we did it at home too. We'd wrap him in a towel in his bath and he would sleep.

When dad's home on the weekends it's all about snuggling

Zee took his first bottle on Nov 4

On Nov 7 we went on our first mini vaca with Zeeland. Austin's little brothers were playing baseball in St George so we thought we'd join them. It was so nice to sit outside in the sunshine and to see both our grandparents

When we came home from St George I noticed a lump on Zeeland's bum. I was concerned so I took him in. The pediatrician said it was a perennial abscess and never seen it before, so he asked the other dr there and they recommended we see the pediatric surgeon. I was terrified. It seems like I always get the scary news when Austin isn't there.
The next day Primary Children's called to schedule surgery. I barely made it off the phone before I broke down into tears. Luckily Austin had come back that day and was able to take the next day off too. Grandpa Rick gave him a blessing which offered us all some relief.
When we got to the hospital the dr looked at it and said he could perform the operation in the room instead of putting him under anesthesia. I wanted to jump up and down I was so happy! My poor babes had his abscess lanced and drained... he only cried for a minute. He's seriously the toughest guy around. We had to rinse his bum every time we changed him, but he recovered quickly!
